Sherry Van Sloun

Van Sloun Ms. Van Sloun assumed the role as Assistant Director of National Intelligence (ADNI) for Human Capital in October 8, 2019. In this position, Ms. Van Sloun leads the design, development, and execution of human resources strategies, plans and policies in support of the men and women who serve in our nation's intelligence agencies. Prior to assuming the role as Acting ADNI for Human Capital, Ms. Van Sloun became the Deputy Assistant Director of National Intelligence for Human Capital and the U.S. Intelligence Community's Deputy Chief Human Capital Officer in June 2016.


Prior to her current position, Ms. Van Sloun was the Director of Human Resources for the ODNI where she led a large office of HR professionals to execute recruitment and retention of the best and brightest employees to carry out ODNI’s mission.


Ms. Van Sloun joined the Office of the Director of National Intelligence at stand-up in April 2005, and was selected as the Chief of Staff of the Office of the National Counterintelligence Executive (ONCIX) in 2009. In this position, Ms. Van Sloun managed all financial, personnel, property and the IT enterprise. While assigned to the ONCIX she served as the Executive Secretary where she managed all external correspondence to and from the National Counterintelligence Executive and led the National Counterintelligence Policy Board. Ms. Van Sloun held several other positions within the ONCIX to include an all source collection officer as well as a policy officer.


Prior to her tenure at the ODNI, Ms. Van Sloun held various positions over the course of ten years with the National Security Agency (NSA) to include multiple assignments within the former Signals Intelligence Directorate. Ms. Van Sloun also served in the United States Army for eight years as a signals analyst serving in tours at the NSA and overseas in the Berlin Brigade during the first Gulf War.


Ms. Van Sloun received a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Maryland, UC. She is a graduate of the National War College, class of 2013.
