Information Sharing Environment Reports Progress, Identifies Way Forward

The Office of the Program Manager, Information Sharing Environment (PM-ISE), on behalf of the President, recently released its annual assessment of the Information Sharing Environment through a report to the Congress.

An account of ISE progress, the report highlights key accomplishments of mission partners across federal, state, local, and tribal governments, the private sector, and internationally. It also identifies opportunities for policy makers and describes the way forward.

“It has been 10 years since the ISE was created in response to the tragedy of September 11, 2001,” said Kshemendra Paul, Program Manager for the Information Sharing Environment. “This year’s report demonstrates the maturation of a decade of government-wide responsible information sharing and safeguarding across the ISE.”

ISE’s report highlights the work done over the past year across three core lines of effort: implementing national information sharing and safeguarding strategies; advancing the domestic ISE architecture; and enhancing the core ISE information interoperability frameworks, standards, and architectures.

“ISE mission partners’ critical work highlighted in this report demonstrates the power of responsible information sharing across jurisdictional boundaries and disciplines, showing the maturity of the Nation’s capabilities to share information,” said Mr. Paul. “However, information sharing is a journey, not a destination. The stage is set for scaling and sustained maturation of the ISE as partners continue to respond to a constantly changing threat and technology environment.”
