I am pleased to announce that I have selected Dr. Gregory Treverton to serve as the next chairman of the National Intelligence Council. Greg brings a unique combination of world class analytic skills, a vast network of global thought leaders and practical experience working in government at the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, the National Security Council and the NIC as the former vice-chairman.

Veteran public communicator Brian P. Hale has joined the Office of the Director of National Intelligence as its director of public affairs.  “We are fortunate to have someone of Brian’s caliber with over 20 years of professional communications experience across both the private and public sector,” said Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper.

Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper has appointed William “Bill” Evanina to serve as the National Counterintelligence Executive. Evanina, a career FBI special agent, most recently served as the chief of CIA’s Counterespionage Group, where he led efforts to identify, prevent and neutralize the espionage related activities of foreign intelligence services.

Today, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, with my concurrence, announced that Robert Cardillo will be the next director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.
