March 16, 2006

ODNI News Release No. 7-06

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence announces the initial public release of documents and media captured during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The materials have been posted to the U.S. Army Foreign Military Studies Office website and are available at (http://fmso.leavenworth.army.mil/products-docex.htm). Additional materials will be regularly uploaded as they are cleared for public release.

Documents have been reviewed for release using a risk management approach, whereby files are reviewed against a release limiting criteria to minimize the chance of releasing information which may damage U.S. national security, the privacy of U.S. persons or innocent foreign nationals. The accessibility of these materials represents an important departure from the past when previous document release efforts have taken many years.

The U.S. Government has made no determination regarding the authenticity of the documents, validity or factual accuracy of the information contained therein, or the quality of any translations, when available.
